Speed test FAQ

How does this VPN speed test work?

The test downloads and uploads real data directly between your browser and our server, then measures the throughput. Latency and jitter come from a series of tiny timed requests. Nothing is installed and no personal data is stored.

How much speed does a VPN cost me?

On a modern WireGuard-based protocol expect a 2–10% drop on a nearby server. Older OpenVPN connections and long-distance servers can cost 20–50%. Run the test twice — once with your VPN off, once with it on — and compare the download figure.

What download speed do I actually need?

Around 5 Mbps for HD streaming, 25 Mbps for 4K, and 10–15 Mbps per person for video calls. For gaming, latency matters far more than raw speed: aim for under 50 ms ping and low jitter.

My results look lower than my plan. Why?

Browser-based tests are limited by Wi-Fi, background downloads, browser overhead and the distance to the test server. Use a wired connection, close other tabs, and run the test a few times to see a stable average.
