Speed runs
An unprotected baseline, then three measurements on three servers per region, repeated at a peak and an off-peak hour. We report the median as a share of baseline.
Our four test stages
Streaming checks
Six regions, three servers each, one region-exclusive title played for five minutes while watching the quality indicator. A pass means no proxy error and no buffering.
Privacy verification
We read the full audit report, not the press release: scope, date, auditor and whether the report is public. Court records that show nothing was handed over count for more.
Price checks
We record the lowest long-term rate and the renewal rate, because the headline price is rarely what you pay in year two.
How the score is built
The overall score out of ten weighs speed at 30 percent, privacy and audits at 30 percent, streaming at 20 percent, and price and device limits at 10 percent each. A provider with no independent audit cannot score above 8.5, however fast it is.
How we make money
Some links on this site earn a commission if you subscribe. Commission never changes a score or a ranking, and the ranking is the same for a visitor who buys nothing. Providers cannot pay for placement or review their own write-up before publication.
Corrections
Prices and streaming support change often. If something here is out of date, we would rather fix it than leave it — read our full speed-test methodology to reproduce our numbers yourself.
